American History Cookbook

Original price was: $30.00.Current price is: $24.00.

Would you like your children to love US history? This book is the key. We’ve adapted historical recipes to make them easy to fix in your own kitchen like Louisa May Alcott’s Blueberry Slump,  Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello Noodles, and Martha Washington’s Fruit Cake.

History is a favorite subject at the Curtis house and when we added cooking and baking to learning about “the olden days,” it made our studies come alive! When I talked about cutting the historical meals out of homeschool co-op one year, my son said, “Mom, you can’t do that. The food is the best part!”

Our curriculum supplies a Christian worldview, living books, and hands-on learning so each chapter includes: US history overviews, book lists, and food history.

eBook is in full color. Print book has black and white pages.

Downloadable pdf only.

Description

Do you want to have more fun when you teach history?

In our house, we love to cook and bake to learn history. We time travel right in the kitchen.

Here is our American History Cookbook. We use it in our home and in our American history co-op. Everyone loves it! Each family takes a week to make a meal from Colonial Times, The Alamo, The Transcontinental Railroad, The Gilded Age, or World War II – whatever we were studying. Some of the recipes are adapted from original recipes from old history cookbooks and famous recipe collections.

Each section begins with a history review of events and people along with information about foods and eating habits of the time period. Also included in this unique cookbook are resources (living books, movies, sample menus) after each section of recipes.
