Today I want you to meet one of my personal heroes. She devoted her life to her husband, children, home, and fulfilling the Great Commission.
Born to a devout peasant family in Bohemia (modern-day Czech Republic), John Huss, or Jan Hus, (1369-1415) was ordained in a priest in 1401. He taught at Charles University and preached at Bethlehem Chapel in Prague.
Being involved in age-integrated homeschool co-ops for many years has been a blessing for my children and me. We have worked really hard to NOT imitate a traditional school setting in our co-op but to give it more of an extended family-type atmosphere.
One of my favorite things about Alaska is the igloo, or house of ice that Native Americans made to keep warm when they were on long hunts across the ice and snow. It’s hard for me to imagine keeping warm inside a house made of ice bricks, but it worked!
Church history is filled with heroes. Even today, there are people all over the earth laying down their lives to honor Jesus and spread the good news. What is better to celebrate than that? At our church we usually celebrate them at the end of October because Reformation Day is a great day…
Book clubs are like a party with food, talking, and people who like each other. My children prefer them to book reports.
We gather together to celebrate Christian heroes from the past who have been world changers. We move from station to station to meet this year’s heroes, listen to their monologues, and play a game or do an activity. Everyone has a blast! One year, Lottie Moon arrived! Would you like to meet her?

Homeschooling since 1991, I have read many government textbooks! While many were excellent, they didn’t have everything I was looking for, so I wrote my own government textbook/unit study/notebook.
We kicked off our brand new year of homeschool co-op with an exciting adventure. We made passports, took a plane ride around the world, and learned about the 10/40 window.
